The Importance of the Blood-Flow for your Workout

by FitnessGuru on April 5, 2010

If  you are trying to start an exercise program, beginning as either obese or overweight, you may want to consider a detailed plan for your exercise routine. It is important for your exercise success to follow a specific plan every week. One goal of your workout should be to increase the blood flow level and then stabilize it on the higher level. The health benefit of a better blood flow is that it helps to keep your heart functioning well. Your heart gets exercised and trained so that it has the strength to pump more blood more efficiently during exercise. The result is not only better heart health, but also the ability to further increase your workouts.

The goal of the following exercises is to alternate upper body and lower body workouts to give your heart the best training possible. As an example you could perform Bench Presses (this is an exercise for your chest/upper body). Start with 3-4 sets combined with 10 reps. Next move  into a Squat exercise again with 3-4 sets, but 15 reps accordingly. What exactly will this do? These 2 exercises will first trigger an increased blood flow in your upper body and then when you switch to the Squats move the increased blood flow to your lower body. Over time this will increase your heart strength then allowing you to add or increase other workouts. It is important to switch the type of exercises every once in a while as your body gets “smarter” when repeating the exact same exercises all the time. The efficiency of these exercises would then decline over time. By “spicing” things up your body never gets into the same routine and therefore is forced to adapt. The results are better workouts, better blood flow, and better heart health.
