I went running this morning, but decided to do the treadmill instead of going outside. The temperatures were a little on the chilly side of things. Not really cold (well, 36 is cold in one way), but it is April and I do not like to run in running tighs and jacket, hat, and gloves. The wind was going 10-15 mph and the felt temperature was 30 or so. So, the treadmill was king today. The run started good and I good my typical down point at around 2 miles, but (as always) I pounded through it and once I reached 3 miles running distance things were good. At 4 miles I increased the speed from 7.2 to 7.8 and was able to reach the 10K marker after 51 Minutes and 30 seconds. It’s not the fastest time I ran, but good for today. I had a dentist appointment later this morning and decided to call it quits. I walked for 6 to 7 minutes, did some stretching and then took a nice shower.
During the run I let my mind float around free and I touch many different topics. Many days when I run I “work” through business ideas and “review” what I have been working on. A 50 minute run refreshes my mind and recharges the battery. By the way, if you are interested in learning how to increase your endurance I highly recommend the following book:
Endurance Sports Nutrition profiles several world-class endurance athletes and their winning nutrition plans they rely on while competing. Well worth the read in my opinion.
