We went to review a couple of Whey Proteins that are currently popular on the market. The protein powders were all reviewed and rated in a uniform way so that it is easier for you to compare. All product mixing was done with either a normal spoon or with a shaker bottle following the recommended amounts of water as published on the product label.
Overall the Protein powders had to undergo the following tests.
Mixing: This test was done to see how well a product mixed and dissolved. We looked clumps, foam, and stickiness when mixing the protein powders with water.
Taste & Flavor: Factors considered in this test are how well the product tasted and how well it did in regards to after taste and sweetness. Did the flavor match the label?
Texture: Products were tested on their texture and feeling. Were they more like a juice or a shake? Thick and Creamy or watery and really thin?
Overall Rating: This is the final sum of all the previous factors.
Conclusions: We also included (where applicable) thoughts and facts on every product to allow for a better rating review on your side.
Review: Optimum 100% Whey Protein
Introduction: Low price for a very decent protein product.
Mixing: 4/5
Taste & Flavor: 3/5
Texture: 3/5
Overall: 10/15
Conclusion: This protein powder is a decent performer – especially considering the price. It has a solid performance and that’s what counts in our opinion. This protein powder is perfect for the normal (average Joe) athlete. If you are trying to be a high performing athlete and attend tournaments there are better products out there.
NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate
Introduction: This is an all natural Protein Powder. It comes with a very affordable and fair price.
Mixing: 3/5
Taste & Flavor: 4/5
Texture: 4/5
Overall: 11/15
Conclusion: Great Protein Powder product in our opinion. The NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate is one of our personal favorites. This protein is pure CFM WPI and therefore some of the highest quality whey protein you can get. As mentioned this protein is all natural and is free of any artificial flavors or colors. There are no additional sweeteners added and it tasted really good. This protein powder mixes up to a nice smoothie style of shake with a nice texture and great taste.
BioPlex WheyPlex
Introduction: Stay away. Why bother ….
Mixing: 1/5
Taste & Flavor: 1/5
Texture: 1/5
Overall: 3/15
Conclusion: Bioplex WheyPlex is definitely the worst tasting and worst mixing protein we have seen – combined with a price way above average. There is no reason to buy this protein unless you are into torture or other self-inflicted “pain”.
ISS Research Complete Whey Power
Introduction: Great variety of different flavors.
Mixing: 4/5
Taste & Flavor: 4/5

Overall: 12/15
Conclusion: This is so far our favorite product we have tested. ISS Research Complete Whey Power Protein tastes very (!) good and mixes well, too. It’s a solid mixture of high quality WPC and high quality WPI. Price is very reasonable considering the high quality and the great flavors.
