You probably love this topic. It happens to all of us. You haven’t worked out in a while and then spent some quality time at the gym. The next thing you know (usually next morning), all the muscles really hurt and your entire body feels like as if a couple of elephants have stepped on it (twice). You take an Advil and decide not to work out until the pain is gone.
This sounds like a logical decision, but in general it is the wrong way to approach it. For starters, it is a normal “response” of your body after an unexpected workout – it should hurt a bit (even though that “bit” is sometimes a lot). It is important at that point to continue with your workouts. Make sure that you work through the pain and do not take a week long break from exercising. It will actually get better automatically after 3-4 days. You can also prepare your body before the next workout. The night before take a hot bath and massage your arms and legs a little bit and keep them warm afterwards. This will help to relax the aching muscles and increase the blood flow which in return also helps to heal.
You can take an Advil half an hour before your next work out to reduce the pain, but in general once you warm up the pain will disappear a bit. What is important is that after the workout you want to take a shower. Use cold water (the colder, the better) and let it run over your legs and arms. The cold water will reduce the inflammation inside the muscle which is actually what is causing the pain in the first place. The take a look at the Pain Relief Roll-on Chondro Pro – this quick roll on is a highly effective and made with Aloe, Eucalyptus Oil, and Peppermint. It takes away the pain quickly and allows you move as if nothing happened. A life saver in my opinion that you should definitely check out.
Failing to continue with your workout plan will just cause the same painful reacting at your next workout. If your body pain is really bad, just make the next workout an easy one, but don’t go too easy. Do some warm-up stretching as well as stretch after your workout.
