I stopped losing body fat! Why?

An often asked question is: “I stopped losing body fat no matter what I kind of workout I do.” and most often the the answer to this question is a question by itself: “What kind of workouts are you doing and for how long do you workout when doing workout? Just doing “a” workout and eating right is not enough – especially the older you get. Once you reach the age of 40 you can pretty much accept that a good, fat-burning workout needs to be a workout of 60 minutes.

If you do not do any cardio even a 60 minute workout might not be enough to lose body fat unless your diet reflects this as well. The less healthy you eat, the more you have to increase your wourkout time. It gets even more difficult if you mix an age of 40+ with junk food. Once you reach the age of 40 your body has to do a lot more work to burn off a Big Mac meal which weighs in easily at 1,000 calories.

You also need to mix up your workout routine. Walking is a great first step towards a cardio related exercising routine. Add biking or even running and you are on your way. Keep in mind that once you “master” a certain exercise that your body becomes smart and efficient and your calorie burn rate goes down. Mix it up and “surprise” your body with different routine. Be consistent when working out. If your legs feel heavy when running, walk. But instead of just walking, add an incline on a treadmill or walk up the stairs or use a stepmaster fitness device.
