Easy Exercises To Stay Healthy at Home

by FitnessGuru on April 18, 2010

Staying healthy is becoming more and more a topic for people everywhere. Reduced healthcare benefits, higher premiums, and more difficulties getting the medical attention one wants are part of the reason for this mind change. Developing better exercising habits requires a lifestyle change for many. Did you know that you can do a lot of fitness and exercising without the need of driving to the gym? You can actually stay at home and do many of the following exercises while you watch TV (well, you do them in front of the TV to be more exact). These following exercises are easy to do so that anybody can do them. These exercises are going to increase your fitness level, and make you feel healthier, too. There are other benefits like weight loss and reduced stress levels, but to reach these goals it requires a commitment or as I said earlier, this is a bit of a change in lifestyle. Let’s get started.

Exercise #1: Running
This is actually my favorite. Running is one of the easiest form of exercise that you can do. Many people do choose to run indoors on a treadmill to avoid extreme weather conditions or due to better air quality at home or because they feel more comfortable on a treadmill. Running and walking are one of the first things we learn in life and it is after all a natural way of getting around. Running is by far my personal favorite form of cardiovascular exercise. You even burn the most calories by running compared to other exercises in the same time frame. There is also something called “a runner’s high” that you reach at the end of a good run. You realize you accomplished a good run, you burned a lot of energy, but you feel totally happy, relaxed and actually are full of energy to do things. Running manages to get your heart rate up fast and to keep it at a level where you really train your heart and create a healthy blood flow, too. I do have a treadmill at home, but I also like to run outside. You should try both (indoor running on a treadmill and outdoor running) to find out where you feel most comfortable. Running is a great way to better health and fitness.

Exercise #2: Crunches
How about training your abs? That’s where a so-called six-pack comes from. Crunches are by far one of the best exercise you can do for your abdominal muscles. There is not really a need for exercising equipment and this makes crunches a perfect workout for the home warrior. without any equipment. Crunches target the abdominal muscle group specifically and are very effective at building muscle mass and to strengthen your abdomen. How far you go with this depends really on you. By the way – strong abs muscles also make you a better runner, too. Running requires a strong core and crunches are a good way to get there.
